The Network Access Solutions (NAS) team at our Cardiff facility are currently recruiting for a Software Engineer.

The NAS Team delivers Physical Access Control systems to a global customer base. We are looking to build upon our current EDGE/VertX controller product line and deliver next generation connected Access Control products to the market.

The Engineer would be responsible for design and development of new applications, enhancing existing applications, solving problems, and resolving defects. The Engineer will review requirements, develop the architecture and design of features (including the relevant documentation), develop application prototypes, participate in design and code reviews, and write code (including unit tests). The Engineer must be able to work within a group, including representatives from other functional areas, and assist junior engineers when required.

The Engineer must be able to become proficient on new task domains quickly, demonstrate technical excellence in his/her personal work as well as contribute to the team's continued success by sharing technical knowledge.

  • Develop technical solutions from high level market requirements
  • Design and implement reusable, testable, and efficient code
  • Collaborate with globally distributed teams
  • Documentation and cross functional training of low level concepts
  • Support the existing product lines
  • Available for occasional international travel (one - two trips per year)
Required Skills
  • Node.js / Javascript and supporting frameworks such as Express, AngularJs and Bootstrap
  • Modern C++ (x11 x14)
  • Linux, both as a development and target environment.
  • TCP/IP Networking and network security.
  • Implementing automated testing platforms, developing unit test and test integration
The ideal candidate will also have
  • Previous Experience within the Access Control and Access Security domains
  • Proven experience in developing applications on embedded Linux platforms (ARM)
  • Web services eg JSON/REST
  • Experience with Cloud providers, technology and integrations
  • Experience investigating, evaluating and working with open source technologies
  • Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment
  • Relational Database / NoSQL technologies
  • Object Oriented Design
  • Linux Kernel development
  • A healthy interest in technology, computing and software engineering
