Ty Coch Nursing Home

Ty Coch Nursing Home, situated next to Llanishen Train Station in Cardiff, is looking for a Domestic Team Leader to manage our cleaning and laundry facilities.

Over 60 elderly residents live at Ty Coch Nursing Home, and the maintenance of a clean and hygienic home is essential in the delivery of a safe environment for our residents. We are looking for someone who is either an experienced team leader within housekeeping, or an experienced domestic with the right attitude and behaviours to manage a team of staff and delivery high standards.

Within this role you will manage a team of domestic and laundry staff, organising their rota's and shifts to ensure the home always has adequate cover, carry out staff supervisions and appraisals, and be responsible for the ordering of cleaning materials. You will undertake audits to ensure we maintain the highest standards of cleanliness, and take the appropriate action to maintain a safe environment for our residents and staff, which will include infection control. Our residents are often unwell and are nursed until end of life, so you will need to be comfortable being around people who are physically unwell, which includes having some exposure to bodily fluids and clinical waste.

As well as looking for someone with high housekeeping standards from a cleanliness perspective, we are also looking for someone with a flare for design. You will support the management team at the service to create a warm and friendly environment where residents feel at home. We aim to deliver hotel standards within a safe, people focused environment.

Ideally you will have experience of managing a team of staff within a housekeeping/cleaning role, however training will be provided to any individual who hasn't yet managed staff provided they display the required behaviours to lead, manage, and motivate a team of staff. You will need some knowledge of COSHH and health and safety, though will be provided with further training and have the support of a friendly and welcoming management team.

This is a role where you can make a real difference to the lives of vulnerable people.

The hours for this role are predominantly 9am-5pm, 5 days per week, however you will need to be flexible with both your hours of work and attitude towards work to meet operational requirements. You will be required to work every other weekend, and some bank holidays. The nursing home operates 365 days a year, and its essential the housekeeping service reflects this to deliver the highest standards.

Applications close at 23.59 on Monday 18th September 2017.
