Commercial Manager - Cardiff (Civil Engineering) Commercial Managing with a civil background required for a permanent position in Cardiff with a major UK contractor. This position is a result of development and natural growth. This is a senior role and a fantastic opportunity for a commercial manager looking for the next step in their career. The Project: The Project involves the design and construction of 23km of new dual three lane motorway. The new motorway runs through large areas of SSSI land and the Usk river SAC leading to extensive environmental problems having to be accommodated or resolved.As well as a large cable stayed bridge and viaduct required to cross the river Usk, there are 20 overbridges, 14 underbridges, a bridge over the River Ebbw, 38 structural culverts and many other minor structures. The conditions of contract for KS4 are (NEC) Professional Services Contract Option E - cost reimbursable with no Liquidated Damages, with contract rates subject to Option X1 - Inflation The Works Information specifies what activities are to be carried out under this stage and any additional works must be agreed beforehand as Compensation Events. These are to be submitted and approved on CEMAR prior to the works commencing as this will have an impact on the budget that the Welsh Government have in the financial year 2017-18. Project is currently undergoing a pricing exercise based on changes to the scope of the works during Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 in order to agree a Target Cost for Key stage 6. Responsibilities: Managing all the Commercial Aspects of the Project Including: Preparation and agreement of design contract with a designer joint venture Managing risks with Active Risk Management (ARM) software with the project team Managing the Procurement of all suppliers & Sub-Contractors Management of key subcontract packages including the design joint venture Ensuring necessary Main Contract notices are issued on time Ensuring maximum entitlement for Contractual Change Responsible for all accurate financial reports including CVRs and Forecasts Responsible for cost reporting and cash flow information. Provide planning, provision and monitoring of commercial support and assurance to the Project Manage and the project delivery team Pursue own professional development and provide guidance and support to develop other commercial staff Required Qualifications & Skills: Member of / actively working towards membership of appropriate professional body (RICS or CInstCES) Proven experience as a Commercial Manager working for a main contractor in a Highways Environment Civils and Highways Background Experience of NEC 3 Option C - Target Cost In additional to general civils background, highways and heavy structures experience would be essential. Experience in Risk Management process Experience in use of commercial software for estimating, change control, planning and costing advantageous Degree Qualified as a minimum CSCS Behaviours: Results Driven - demonstrates a passion for his/her work.
