A leading regional contractor with offices based near Cardiff are looking to add additional senior commercial expertise to their commercial team by appointing a managing quantity surveyor. The company are a main stay of the South Wales construction market and are currently preparing to deliver some of their largest and valuable schemes in South Wales during a period of sustained growth. The overall responsibility of the MQS will be delivery of results and ensuring the company's commercial opportunities are optimised and also suitably protected. Managing the project reporting process, forecasts and accounts reporting directly to the commercial director. As part of the senior commercial team, the post holder will be expected to assist in the analysis and vetting of contractual documentation, administration of sub-contractor accounts ensuring a robust system of payments & notices and disputes are avoided or managed where unavoidable. Ensure that the surveying team is managed and that each project has effective cost control and financial management systems in place to optimise returns. Form relationships with the customer, clients, PQS and design team and ensure supply chain is bought into the delivery standards required. Manage people in regard to feedback and performance, development and discipline. Manage commercial recruitment, communications and personal development plans with team. The successful candidate will be a competent and experienced senior commercial professional that has operated in a management role in previous employment. Experienced in working for a main contractor delivering commercial, educational and residential projects, familiar with JCT forms of contracts with a main contractor and competent in dealing with job costings, price negotiations and insurance claims. Previous experience of delivering multiple project ranging from £2m to £10m is essential. Offered is a competitive salary, company car allowance, private health care and insurance.
