Software Engineer (Developer Level)
Software Engineer Swansea, Permanent Salary range: £29,832 to £32,367 - depending on skills and experience. The role may also attract a Digi Tec Allowance of up to £5k depending on skills and experience. Join the DVLA as a Software Engineer, and you'll help build world class digital services that pave the way for future business transformation. As a Software Engineer, you'll help build world class digital services as part of a team delivering both service excellence and agile change. You'll be supporting the programme that migrates legacy technology onto new, cloud-based platforms that shape and deliver up to 50 projects of varying size, risk and complexity paving the way for the future business and service transformation. You'll develop software as part of a flexible software delivery team working in a variety of styles, including Agile. You will be expected to work with minimal supervision, and some roles will include some staff management responsibility. We're looking for Software Engineers who have experience in application development using recognised programming languages, and have the drive and willingness to learn new languages and frameworks. You'll be experienced in leading or supporting the design, development, testing, and quality assurance of bespoke applications throughout the development lifecycle. With excellent analytical skills, and written communication skills, including reports and technical specifications, you'll be able to communicate effectively to customers at all levels of the business. Successful candidates will need to be eligible to gain Security Check Clearance and will need to be available on a rota basis to undertake out of hours activities and provide on call cover to support the service.
