ROLE PROFILE – TRAFFIC PLANNER (DAYS) PALLET NETWORKS Job Purpose: To take responsibility for the timely traffic planning of routes and scheduling delivery times to ensure that the customer receives a first class service in a cost effective way. Shifts - Alternate mornings/afternoons every week Key Accountabilities Success Criteria. Carry out tasks largely unsupervised to cost and quality standards. Plan ahead - tasks and resources Liaise with internal/external customers to resolve problems. Collect, analyse and distribute information/data. Provide professional/specialist advice both internally and externally. Developing relationships with external customer. Specify and ensure levels of support service are in place. Prioritise and co-ordinate workloads Completion of tasks to time and quality standards No customer complaints Working to budgets Successful working partnerships with customers, internal and external Delivering the right advice in a timely manner Achieving respect of others about your competence. CPC Holder Fork Lift Truck Licence Specific Experience Traffic management Dealing with VOSA Compliance Problem solving/logical thinking Working unsupervised, continually managing time and prioritising work to meet tight corporate deadlines. Specific Skills Computer skills – Sterling, Excel Good communication skills, interaction at all levels internal and external. Geographical knowledge Team player with a flexible Can Do attitude Company/Industry Knowledge Distribution/Logistics/Supply Chain Environment Specific Key Accountabilities DUTIES TO COVER BOTH GENERAL AND PALLET NETWORKS ACTIVITIES 1. Working with customers/suppliers/drivers and other traffic desks, planning routes and scheduling delivery times to ensure the smooth running of the operation 2. Prioritising workload, route planning driver brief and de-brief 3. Liaise with other depots within the Company 4. Strong organisational skills for planning schedules, journeys and loads 5. Proactively work to reduce late deliveries and missed time slots 6. Ability to work flexibly and to make decisions quickly 7. Excellent communication skills and the ability to deal with people at all levels 8. Maintain computerised system such as Sterling.Have the skills to use excel spread sheet 9. A good understanding of transport regulations currently in force 10. Good geographical knowledge 11. Booking driver agency staff depending on workload 12. Provide on-site security surveillance for the depot 13. Must monitor Compliance and work with drivers and Compliance to eliminate infringements 14. Must ensure that all drivers are aware of SAFED, and be actively involved in improving SAFED achievements to goals 15. Must be an integral part of, and is responsible for employee health and safety 16. Ensure that vehicles and trailers are available in a timely manner to adhere to Compliance and inspection requirements 17. Provide general support appropriate to the management when require. 18. Check driving licences and ensure Company drivers and Agency drivers are compliant and legal to drive within the scope of the conditions of the Insurance. This job was originally posted as
