Software Engineer - PHP - Cardiff Overview LexisNexis is seeking a Software Engineer with a background in PHP to join one of our Cardiff based development teams. Our teams are agile, supporting multiple products with a challenging and exciting roadmap and opportunity to contribute significantly to the success of the organisation. The successful candidate will be provided with training on our big data platform, HPCC and will have the opportunity to develop on this platform on a regular basis. Main Responsibilities - Work as part of an agile product development team - Develop and maintain our web applications, web service solutions and batch processing services on products such as TraceIQ, IDU and Smartcleanse - Work alongside product management, project management and engineering teams to plan development for delivery of products and enhancements - Ensure that the development team continues to deliver high quality products within efficient timescales Skills & Experience - Demonstrable knowledge and experience of PHP, MySQL, JavaScript, MVC and OO - Good experience of development frameworks, ideally Zend and JQuery - Good verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills, customer service and interpersonal skills - Ability to troubleshoot issues and make system changes as needed to resolve issues - Past experience working with data & database concepts (i.e. joining tables, creating indexes etc) - Understanding of professional software development processes, including familiarity with the cycles of requirements definition, issue tracking, version control, automated testing, deployment and maintenance - Knowledge of the full software development lifecycle: from business/systems analysis, through requirements gathering and functional specification authoring, to development, testing and delivery - Hands on experience debugging complex problems - Ability to work independently and collaborate with cross functional groups as required - Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment We're a superb company to work for, with great people, great benefits (including 28.5 days annual holiday and 8 Bank/Hols, health cover, pension and share scheme), world class technology, market leading products, a culture of innovation and collaboration, and superb career prospects.
