Job Summary Responsible for promoting and quality assuring effective assessment, Care Planning, intervention and review for Children in need, Looked After Children and Child protection situations. Responsible for contributing to the development and maintenance of systems and for providing a consultation role on practice issues to ensure quality of service. Responsible for delegated decision making in the absence of team/service managers. Principal social workers engaged via agencies are usually expected to deal mainly with casework. Profile · Knowledge of relevant legislation, policies and procedures · Knowledge of models of intervention with Children and their families · Understanding of Child Protection procedures · Ability to assess and manage risk · Ability to reflect and identify possible solutions to problems · Advocacy skills · Ability to work positively to achieve change · Ability to audit and quality assure and to make use of performance information · Ability to enable learning and professional development in practice and to motivate others · Leadership and negotiation skills · Excellent oral and written communication skills · Competent IT user · Commitment to developing practice in order to improve outcomes for children · Commitment to the principles of partnership and of equal opportunities and anti-discriminatory practice · Able to work in a flexible manner to meet the needs of the service Standard of Dress / PPE · Education & Training · A recognised social work qualification and registration with the Care Council for Wales · Post Qualifying Award · Practice Teaching Award Specific Experience Working with Children and their families Supporting/coaching other staff/students/volunteers Practice developments and project work Working at a Senior Social Worker level Supervisory experience Specific Checks · Enhanced CRB check · Driving licence · Insurance This job was originally posted as
