Regional Operations Manager
We are looking for a motivated and driven individual to join YHA as an Operations Manager to support the 'Wales' Region in achieving world class standards. Taking accountability for the budget, teams and individual performance of 19 Hostels within the region, you will ensure customer service and standards are delivered to YHA expectations and budgets are met or exceeded where possible. You will also motivate individuals and teams to deliver the Hostel and wider strategic Operational Plans. Please note; extensiveness travel and overnight stays will be required throughout our Hostel Network. Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities: - To lead all performance and team development to deliver maximum profitability, highly motivated teams and individuals - Performance management both at individual and team level, implementing plans in good time to ensure that any identified performance issues are rectified and dealt with appropriately. - The recruitment and selection for Management positions within your area, using effective assessment tools and ensuring induction plans are implemented to support new Managers. - Developing talented individuals through effective reviews, appraisals and other business/volunteering opportunities. - Leading team communication through regular meetings and team briefs to ensure that all team members and managers are kept fully informed of all operational and organisational developments. - Actively engaging and promoting cross organisational initiatives and changes, ensuring that all teams and individuals are kept informed and engaged with changes. - To embed and develop hostel level and area KPIs, business plans and growth models to ensure maximization of potential at all levels. - Management and review of annual, quarterly and monthly P&Ls for each hostel and area to ensure realistic budgeting and expenditure control. - Liaising with Health and Safety to ensure that all hostel and area legislation and organisation requirements are complied with including the reporting and analysis of regular health and safety related audits. Required Experience - Proven experience of successfully leading and managing the performance of a Hospitality operation - Previous multi-site managerial experience - In depth experience and knowledge relevant to the post, the ability to explain issues affecting the role effectively and provide authoritative advice. - Experience of effectively managing an electronic booking engine to maximize occupancy levels and drive profitability - A strong track record of coaching and mentoring individuals and teams to achieve their potential - Experience of effectively delivering cross-departmental projects. - Operational understanding of financial and quality control systems. - Excellent understanding of operational health and safety requirements and awareness of relevant legislation. - Knowledge of YHA and understanding of departmental challenges. - ICT Literacy, including multiple Microsoft Packages - Due to the large amount of travel involved with this position, we can only accept applications from candidates with Full Driving Licences. - In order to become an employee at YHA you must be able to produce evidence of your Right to Work in the UK at your interview/assessment.
