About The Role

11th Hour are NIC EIC Approved Electrical Contractors, who provide temporary electric supplies to events, concerts, and festivals across the UK.  These supplies are typically ‘show critical' supplies, such as stage lighting, sound, and video power supplies. Such temporary supplies are provided, typically, from a generated source.  The candidate must be able to demonstrate a diverse range of skills, ensuring that the show must go on.

11th Hour are seeking to employ a fully qualified Production Electrician, to carry out a variety of electrical work, including testing and inspection to BS7671 & BS7909 standards of temporary electrical systems. 

The role is split between working on site, and from our offices in Cardiff.  The onsite work comprises of designing, installing, and certifying temporary electric systems for a variety of events to BS7909 standards, whilst at other times performing preventative maintenance and testing, and curative repairs to a variety of electrical equipment, such as distribution boards, cables and other show related appliances and equipment, from our offices located in Cardiff, CF10 4SP. 

The successful candidate will need to have a flexible approach to working hours, as the role requires weekend work, and, at times unusual hours, dictated by the nature of the show or event.  The candidate must be able to work well within a team, and also lead a team, coupled with a strong, diverse practical approach to work and problem solving, coupled with a good can-do attitude.  The candidate must possess a clean drivers licence to enable travel to event in company vehicles. 

This role would suit an experienced domestic / commercial electrician looking for new challenges, and something different in an electrical career.

Main Responsibilities

  • Undertake inspection and testing of temporary electric systems to BS7671 & BS7909 standards
  • Liaise with Project Managers and Clients regarding specific project requirements are met.
  • To design, plan & install temporary electrical systems
  • To carry out on-site maintenance work
  • To lead and work within a team
  • To carry out curative and remedial maintenance on a variety of electrical equipment and appliances
  • Provide technical show cover for events, concerts.
  • Procure components / parts required for maintenance
  • Provide good customer service

    Essential Criteria

  • Full Clean Driving Licence for vehicles up to 3.5T -  Essential
  • Computer Literate in Microsoft Office Products
  • Basic Education - GCSE level & Higher
  • NVQ or C&G level 2, 3 & 17th Edition Qualifications
  • Knowledge & Understanding of BS7671:2015
  • Knowledge & Understanding of Earthing requirements to BS7430
  • Basic Education - GCSE level & Higher
  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing & orally
  • Ability to lead a team, and work within a team
  • Own tools & test equipment

    Desirable Criteria

  • Knowledge BS7909 : 2011 (COP for Temporary Electrical Systems for Entertainment & Related Purposes) - TRANING CAN BE PROVIDED
  • Knowledge of Hire Track - TRAINING CAN BE PROVIDED
  • Fork Lift Truck / Telehandler Operator - TRAINING CAN BE PROVIDED
  • Understanding of Generators & Temporary Supplies - TRAINING CAN BE PROVIDED
  • A passion for sporting events, concerts, festivals, and live events
