Software Engineering Manager Cardiff Up to £80,000 plus excellent benefits A software engineeringt manager is required to join a rapidly expanding organization and help build the world`s most advanced cloud-based security technology. This company is one of the strongest in the online security sector and is looking for a skilled candidate to provide technical team leadership / day-to-day operations to a highly talented and growing team of software engineers that work in an Agile Scrum methodology as well as providing guidance in areas of Development, Testing and Operational Support (DevOps model) engineering activities The team needs a leader with strong tech background who can guide themon complex and challenging tasks in the area of collection and distributed data processing. Our successful manager needs to have experience building and leading effective development teams providing 24/7 support for backend services and is not afraid of taking technical challenges. Responsibilities in this role will be very varied however will include: - Delivering high quality, successful projects in an Agile development environment - Be accountable for the results of the team, measure individual and overall team performance, design strategies and processes to continually enhance team effectiveness - Facilitate discussions around technical challenges and help the team make right choices basing on objective performance indicators - Take ownership of projects portfolio, participate in planning sessions and represent the team during decision-making process delivering weighed and arguments opinion on technical matters The successful candidate will join a fast-paced and constantly evolving organisation that boast an impressive portfolio of clients - key requirements in this role include but are not limited to - - Experience of managing multiple complex technical projects with a team of software engineers - (previous) Design and development skills in any of the following programming languages C / C++ / Java / functional programming languages (e.g. Erlang, Haskell, Lisp etc.) - Hands-on experience of software architectural work for distributed systems engineering - Good understanding of DevOps paradigm and software ownership principles Also, ideally our successful candidate would also have hands-on experience with AWS/Azure IaaS solutions and tools as well as a strong understanding of network protocols such as IP, TCP, and HTTP.
