Data Centre Operations Engineer - Cardiff We at Alert Logic are looking for a skilled and experienced Data Centre Operations Engineer to join us in our Cardiff based European Head Office. The Data Centre Operations Engineer will play a key role in the deployment, maintenance, and enhancement of all Data Centre infrastructure. Playing a key role in projects to develop and enhance Alert Logic's Data Centre performance, availability, and capacity, the Data Centre Operations Engineer will work across a large scale distributed environment, and be part of a dedicated network and data centre infrastructure team. Key role responsibilities - Deploy and maintain new data centre infrastructure, including creating required documentation - Handle server upgrades, integration, and rebuilds - Debug and troubleshoot network, hardware, and Linux OS related issues - Work with third party suppliers and vendors to handle larger technical issues when required - Update and develop scripts when needed (Python, SQL, Shell) Required skills and experience - Strong hands on experience with core Data Centre technologies including Blade Servers, SAN Storage (e.g. EMC or NetApp), and DNS Infoblocks - Knowledge of Linux hardware systems - Ability to manage multiple on-going projects - Understanding of enterprise level networking and storage equipment Desired skills and experience - Ability to modify or develop scripts with the likes of Python, SQL, or Shell. - Understanding of IPMI and Serial Console The Data Centre Operations Engineer will be based out of the Cardiff office with our standard office hours, although a willingness to work outside of these as required to minimise customer impact for key project stages will be required, and the Data Centre Operations Engineer will be needed to take part in an out of hours on-call rota. Some travel to our partner Data Centres will be required on roughly a one day a month basis.
