Newport Norse is currently seeking a Building Surveyor to work as part of a team to administer professional building maintenance services with regard to the property portfolio of Newport City Council, and private sector clients.

The main purpose of the role is to carry out property inspection functions including the identification and categorisation of building defects and condition; you will then arrange responsive and planned remedial work if necessary.  In addition, you will prepare estimates for identified works, place orders, supervise contractors and in-house work force and check/approve interim and final accounts for small to medium size contracts.

The successful candidate must have considerable experience in building surveying, particularly related to maintenance and upgrades in both social housing and commercial properties. Using excellent communication skills, you will build professional relationships with ease and will be a confident negotiator.

This role will require travel and therefore a valid driving license is essential.

An enhanced DBS check will be carried out on the successful applicant.

We reserve the right to close the vacancy once we have received sufficient applications, so we would advise you to submit your application as early as possible.

Due to the high numbers of applications we receive for our vacancies, if you do not hear from us within 4 weeks of the date you apply, please assume that your application has been unsuccessful for this position.
