Applications Developer Location: Bristol, Cardiff, Leicester or Portsmouth Permanent Salary: Competitive Benefits An Applications Developer is required to work for the UK's Leading Engineering Support Services organisation as part of their Support Services Division based from various locations. As an Applications Developer you will be responsible for the application and software design and support for Business Unit specific Microsoft/Oracle and Business Intelligence applications, including the management of the application lifecycle from application design, build, test and implementation. Current applications are based on Oracle, Microsoft SQL and also Business Intelligence. Other responsibilities will include maintaining a bug register for each application and proactively reduce major problems; develop, create and/or implement software solution; support the development of test scripts and validate output as well as resolving 3rd line calls. Working within a large team who work across various applications you will pick up new applications and tools - possibly into the Microsoft field including SAP. Your role will also involve 2nd and 3rd line support, making changes, configurations as required, liaising with suppliers, becoming competent in suppliers software applications. As well as BAU Support you will also be involved in Project work, rolling out new software deployments as and when needed. Essential The successful candidate will hold a degree (or similar) in IT, for example Computer Science/ Information Technology etc You will have gained working experience within the development/application development space or has provided application support across the Microsoft SQL technology/Oracle field. You will have the ability to come in and pick up the current applications that have been developed and solve problems and look towards future developments. You will be a self-starter, someone who wants to develop/use initiative; there is a lot of cross training opportunities.
