Do you have a passion for leading a team to success? Can you manage people and processes? Due to a retirement, my client is looking to employee a Team Leader to work along side 2 others to ensure the smooth and effective running of a busy manufacturing facility. You will be responsible to the Production Manager and be tasks with achieving the Health, Safety and Environmental, quality,and production objectives within budget. Key Responsibilities: Health & Safety: - Compliance with all H&S policies and procedures. - Promoting an awareness of everyone's Health, Safety & Environmental responsibilities. - Effectively managing all visitors / contractors to the area in accordance with company's contractor management system - Completion and review of Risk Assessments - Ensuring the team operates to the company Standard Operating Procedures - Ensuring that all hazards, risks and Incidents are reported and that corrective actions are completed - Communicating / briefing the team on all safety matters - Assisting in incident investigations - Maintain a high level of housekeeping & hygiene in accordance with the company's policies - Attending HSE meetings as required - Attending appropriate training courses as required - Ensuring that team members are trained & qualified as appropriate (e.g. First aid) Production & Cost Control: - Achieving the efficiency, utilisation & throughputs as agreed with Senior Management - Liaison with Maintenance to promote Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) and efficient breakdown services. Monitoring & reporting equipment downtime and taking action to increase availability - Liaison with scheduling & sales to ensure that high levels of customer service are achieved whilst achieving optimum throughput - Carrying out first line maintenance activities as appropriate and commensurate with the TL'S skill set - Carrying out operational tasks as appropriate in order to provide relief cover or additional resource on the shift as required - Control consumable spending to within agreed budget levels, whilst working to minimise waste - Participating in continuous improvement activities and involving team members in the same - Working with Process Engineers in deploying lean manufacturing tools such as TPM, Kaizen breakthrough, 6S, SMED, root cause analysis so that this methodology becomes accepted and embedded in the factory - Supporting colleagues and the company in achieving a culture of Continuous Improvement through Involvement in cross functional Improvement teams, applying CI tools and techniques, thus providing clear leadership in this area - Ensuring receipt and despatch of all relevant goods is managed effectively Quality: - Maintaining team quality records as appropriate/required for specific products/contracts - Providing decision making support when team members report possible non-conformance of material - Monitoring scrap and rework levels, taking corrective and preventive action when defects occur. - Highlighting, reporting & recording supplier quality issues - Working closely with the QSE Engineer / Process Engineers to improve product quality, reduce material waste and Investigate Internal and Customer non-conforming material - Liaising with other Team Leaders in the case of quality issues - Be customer aware People: - Effective Implementation of company policies, ensuring good performance is maintained and issues are dealt with by following the appropriate procedures - e.g. Return to Work interviews, performance management reviews - Effectively manage time & attendance, holidays and overtime within the team and in accordance with company policies and objectives - Establish and maintain professional relationship with Directors, Commercial and Finance functions, Process Engineers, Maintenance, Scheduling and other Team Leaders - Operate an effective escalation procedure for out of hour's issues that may arise - Facilitate training through provision of adequate information, instruction and supervision to team members ensuring that training records are current, relevant and effective - Develop, nurture and coach team members to realise their full potential. Develop sufficient training and succession plans in order for the plant to run smoothly and efficiently - Communicate effectively with teams via team briefs, toolbox talks, written materials etc, ensuring full engagement with the company's vision - Ensure that concerns and Issues are communicated to Senior Management You will have a strong background in team management and ideally hold a qualification such as ILM You would also be desirable if you hold NEBOSH or an IOSH certification. The hours of work are Monday to Friday 6am -2pm/2pm-10pm and 10pm - 6am.
