The Cardiff geotechnical team is part of our 170 strong earth engineering group in the Europe, which in turn forms part of a global practice of around 530. Members of these groups are linked by close technical and project delivery networks, which enhance the opportunity to develop your technical skill and engineer a rewarding long-term career. You will work within a team who deliver geotechnical services within a large variety of civil engineering and infrastructure projects, including highways, rail, water, ports and bridges. Your main role will be to provide geotechnical design calculations with analytical and numerical methods. Moreover, you will have the opportunity to support project delivery through desk studies, design/supervision/ interpretation of ground investigations and, potentially, support during construction. Typical job responsibilities include: * Developing geotechnical design calculations with analytical and numerical methods (finite element in particular) * Assisting with planning and design of ground investigations * Supervising ground investigations in the field and revision of associated documentation * Producing accurate calculation documents * Assisting with preparation of technical specifications * Assisting with the preparation of technical notes and geotechnical reports The minimum qualifications for this position are: * We expect our candidates to hold a 2.1 or Merit first degree in Civil Engineering, Geology or related subject * Additionally, candidates should have graduated with or expecting to be graduating with a 2.1 or Merit MSc in Engineering Geology, Geotechnical Engineering or MEng (with geotechnical major) * Knowledge of the application of the finite element method to geotechnical problems would be an advantage * A sound academic knowledge of geotechnical engineering is critical The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and experience: * Excellent communication in English verbal and written * High motivation to join CH2M * Strong interpersonal and team working skills * Problem solving * A full UK driving license is preferred How to apply If you are interested in applying to us for this position, please submit your application with an up-to-date CV.
