FAMILY SUPPORT WORKER
SALARY: 17,222 - £23,427 per annum
HOURS: 37 hours per week
The Integrated Family Support Services (IFSS) is delivered jointly in partnership between Newport Children's Services and Barnardo's. The aim of the IFSS is to provide multi-agency, evidence based interventions that integrate seamlessly for children, young people and their families. The Institute of Public Care (IPC) in their evaluation of the IFSS April 2016 described the Family Support Services as “one of the most impressive overall models to be evaluated by the IPC to date”.
The Family Support Team is seeking to recruit a Family Support Worker who will specialise in working with children and families. To undertake this role you will need to have direct experience of undertaking family support work with children and parents. In addition to supporting families you will be expected to deliver parent programmes e.g. Cygnet, Parenting (Nurture) and domestic abuse programmes (training provided). You will be required to provide holistic support to families around routines and boundaries, behaviour management, CSE, domestic abuse and parenting by building on families' strengths and working with achievable goals. You will be based at Old Brynglas Hostel, Newport working with families across Newport. You will need to have willingness to work flexibly including, evenings weekends and public holidays.
Although this contract has a permanent status, please be aware that this post is subject to funding until end of March 2018 and therefore should this funding not be extended further, you may be subject to a redundancy consultation or a TUPE arrangement.
