As part of our ambitious growth plans we are doubling the size of our telesales team based in Cardiff.  The team will play a key role in SSE's future success, by talking to new and existing customers about our products.  Our fantastic team is less than a year old, and have already been recognised for their excellence by reaching the finals of the upcoming Welsh Contact Centre Forum's annual awards. 

About the role

You'll be receiving (and sometimes making) calls from new and existing customers, to renew their existing products and let them know about the latest offers and products. Your main role is to encourage customers to stay with SSE by telling them about our brilliant offers and the benefits of being with us, such as SSE rewards. You will be an ambassador for SSE, leaving the customer with a positive experience regardless of the sales outcome.

You'll also have the opportunity to progress through a structured sales accreditation process. We aim to promote from within and many of our agents go on to become coaches, managers and analysts, to name but a few of our career paths.

We operate a shift pattern between 9am and 10pm, Monday to Friday and 9am -5pm on Saturday. You'll know your shifts well in advance so you can keep that essential work-life balance.

About you

It would be great if you have previous experience of working as part of a lively team and be able to demonstrate your passion for great customer outcomes. You will be looking to progress your career working in a challenging and successful telesales environment and will know that work has to be fun too. You'll be great at detail, comfortable working on a pc and, obviously, brilliant on the phone.

You'll also need to be able to attend 3 weeks of full time training.

All successful candidates will be subject to the Company's verification and vetting process, this includes a basic criminal records check.

The next steps

Our recruitment process is designed to let you to show us your abilities, skills and most of all your passion for customers. If you are successful at the upfront screening stage you will be invited to take part in an online ability test that will simulate working in a contact centre environment. After all, you'll want to experience a glimpse into what it will be like working in our team.

It should be no surprise that for a Contact Centre role that we will also want to speak to you as part of our process, so when you pass the online testing you will be asked to complete a short telephone interview with a member of our recruitment team. Here we can talk to you about your passion for delivering for customers and you can also grill us about what it's like to work for SSE.

The final stage will be to invite you to one of our Assessment Centres where you will get to have a look around our site, learn some more about us and take part in some group exercises, as well meeting your future colleagues in  a face to face interview.  We won't keep you waiting, you will usually find out if you have been successful within 3 working days of attending your interview
