We are seeking a talented individual to lead a team and represent the professional activities of ATL in Wales. With your knowledge of the structure of education in Wales and of the needs of those working in education in Wales, you will play an important role in leading ATL's responses to education policy initiatives. You will command respect from politicians, senior government officials, and other leading stakeholders.
As part of ATL's strategic management team, you will help to develop, support and implement the union's strategic priorities, and contribute widely to the union's continuing success.
With a clear understanding of the organising agenda and its importance to trade unions, you will lead and manage a team of professionals in Wales implementing member recruitment strategies, building strong member networks and supporting members with a wide range of professional problems.
You will demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including strong influencing skills, and you will be at ease with the media in its many forms. With proven experience of successful team management, you will be used to working on your own initiative and will be able to manage complex work schedules with challenging deadlines. Fluency in Welsh is advantageous.
The role holder will be based in ATL's office in Cardiff, but will be expected to travel within Wales and to attend meetings in London.
